How to: Paper Swallows Wall Decor

I came up with a quick, easy, and cheap-o solution for my decor and decals craving. I saw these set of birds as wall decor at Target and I was real tempted. But it was all plastic and came with a ton of pushpins so it was a no-go for me. Plus, I didn’t want to spend any money on home decor when my stay here at this location is decided on a month-month basis. So here are some examples of wall decals I’ve been drooling over:

There are tons more but I’m trying to make this a quick blog to get on with my errands so that’s just a teaser for you. I combined the idea of wall vinyl decals & the 3D plastic birds from Target to come up with these paper swallows.

Easy Peezy Instructions
- paper scraps- try to keep it eco! I used only one brand new sheet of black paper. The rest were from scraps I saved.
- double-sided tape
- Trace or freehand out image of your choice. I just googled and traced mine. teehee*
- Cut them out. I slightly curled the wings on my swallows to give them a 3D look.
- Slap them randomly on your walls.
- Tah-dah! Told you, easy peeeeezy.

Message In A Bottle Magnets by GreenPost
I really love these because the artist put so much eco effort into their work and the magnets turned out so cute! Hand-casted from 100% recycled paper pulp. Mini letters & numbers were stenciled on for details and then “Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets” were added to turn them into cute “message in a bottle” fridge magnets. Isn’t that awesome?
how many — 8 magnets
how much – $10 usd
how tiny — 1.5″x 5/8″” x 5/8 each bottle
where to buy – here!
I’m a fourth year in college so I’ve had my share of guilt every time I had to print out pages and pages of notes and such. But for almost two years now I haven’t had to purchased any new white paper. I save all my old papers from previous quarters and go through and save the ones with one whole blank side. I also go through bins from work, school, and my house mate’s and rescue whatever pages I can. I call these “printable whole pages” and use them to print things like notes, info, and whatever I could get away with. I save my new white pages for only formal things like essays and resumes. Remember to take out any staples and don’t keep pages that are too wrinkled because they can get jammed in your printer and cause a mess. And I always print on “fast draft” to prolong my ink cartridges. Also if you have lots of pages to print out, put multiple pages onto one page to crunch the numbers down. See below.
Now I also save “printable half pages.” which I use to print out shipping labels for product orders on Etsy and such.
