I have to confess that I have a thing for tins. I’ve decided to share my tin hoarding to others who love to upcycle these fun containers into cute gift boxes and such.
Here are photos of my previous tin alterations:
Please excuse the poor photography from back then. I always upcycled the tins as birthday containers to hold earrings and magnets.
I came up with a quick, easy, and cheap-o solution for my decor and decals craving. I saw these set of birds as wall decor at Target and I was real tempted. But it was all plastic and came with a ton of pushpins so it was a no-go for me. Plus, I didn’t want to spend any money on home decor when my stay here at this location is decided on a month-month basis. So here are some examples of wall decals I’ve been drooling over:
There are tons more but I’m trying to make this a quick blog to get on with my errands so that’s just a teaser for you. I combined the idea of wall vinyl decals & the 3D plastic birds from Target to come up with these paper swallows.

paper scraps- try to keep it eco! I used only one brand new sheet of black paper. The rest were from scraps I saved.
double-sided tape
Trace or freehand out image of your choice. I just googled and traced mine. teehee*
Cut them out. I slightly curled the wings on my swallows to give them a 3D look.
Wanted to prove to my great friend Katrina that I truly did love my birthday gift. She got me these cool DIY eco speakers.

I didn’t use the color pencils that came along with the kit but I do have plans to turn those into something else. Instead, I busted out my faux bois rubber stamp which I’ve been dying to use. Here are the results:
My housemates & I are working on a project that calls for old pillows donations. I’m going to keep the details of what it is for a secret for another post. But please throw them our way as we’d greatly appreciate it!
Q: What if the pillows are housing a lot of sweat, tears, and are really old? Or are those qualities you want? Hahha.
A: YES! Yes, it is what we want. The more unwanted the better! It’ll make me feel all warm & fuzzy to give it a new home & purpose. Read more
Life’s been rolling along faster than I could keep up with so I’m really behind on my posts. The craft sale in July was fun. Didn’t make enough sales to make me rich yet but maybe next time. Met a lot of great local artists and it was a beautiful, beautiful day in a cute garden setting.
Ended up loving my last minute table sign. With great help from some awesome obedient boys, I decided to use an old cork bulletin board for my sign. Grabbed some color tape to make the background and then my friend drew out my monsters and painstakingly cut them out from cardboard. That was my goal, to make my sign from recycled materials so I was very satisfied.
We checked in & grabbed lunch at Charlie Hong Kong. Don’t be fooled or offended by their name haha. Don’t expect your “pho” to taste like pho because it won’t! I just ignore what the dishes claim to be because they’re very good in their own way. This was their green curry chicken rice bowl. They use organic greens and the food always tastes fresh. Loved my green tea pomegrante drink. Best one I’ve had. Cute garden setting at the Crepe place. Saw cute couples, families, and friends on a beautiful lunch date. That needs to be me next time.
Here’s an artist I really loved. He’s freelancing and his work really stood out.
Awesome details, huh?
My ultimate favorite piece. This is a functional tree teapot & I think you’ll agree that it’s simply amazing!

Don’t these freshly picked strawberries look scrumptious? We found this cute strawberry picking farm when we were on one of our random adventures and life hasn’t been the same since. If you’re in the Santa Cruz area check this awesome farm out. They also have olallieberries right now and kiwis in November which I’m really excited for. It’s $2.50 a lb for both strawberries & berries and they are organic. They have amazing jams at their little shop as well.

My sweet ole friends & I had a wonderful time
p.s. remember chocolate & strawberries go hand in hand! I just stick some chocolate in the microwave for less than a minute and it’s instant heaven with the fresh organic strawberries.
I’ve been obsessed with vintage bowls as jewelry holders. I’ve tried various holders to organize my jewelry but in the end fail at keeping them in their proper places because I’m always in a rush. With bowls it’s perfect because I just take them off and toss them in. They don’t take up too much room and they will still be organized. I have several bowls for rings, bracelets, necklaces, hair pins, etc…
Here’s a cute Japanese vintage ceramic bowl on sale on our etsy. Found it at an awesome deal so we’re passing it on to you. Only $3 plus shipping. Sweet deal huh?
Here are some other cute bowls I found on etsy. These colorful ones are from storybookcharm.etsy.com
I love lotus bowls so I’m in love with these from violetsandgrace
